Dewey John Sonier, 83, a native and resident of Bayou Blue, Louisiana passed away on January 23, 2021.
A visitation will be held in his honor on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Samart Funeral Home of Houma, Bayou Blue from 9:00 am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Louis Catholic Church. The burial will follow in St. Louis Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Saucier Sonier; daughters, Roxanne Leonard (Thomas), JoAnn Sonier, Elizabeth Boquet (Patrick), and Patti Matherne (Tom); one brother; three sisters; nine grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Lil Bit.
He was preceded in death by his daughters, Cheryl Sonier; parents, Herman J. Sonier and Rita Dupre Sonier; three brothers; and son-in-law, Dukin “Butch” Arceneaux Jr.
He retired as a commercial construction supervisor. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and being with family and friends.
