Druis J. Neil, Sr., 89, a lifelong resident of Chauvin, LA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 5, 2023.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation in his honor on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 10:00 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. Burial to follow at St. Elie Cemetery.

Druis is survived by his stepson, Alfred (Myra) Duplantis; grandson, Brett (Erica) Duplantis and their children, Braelyn, Carson, and Colton; granddaughter, Kaylie (Jared) Rogers and their children Braxton, Brody, and Brennen. His stepdaughter, Myra (Adolph) Stoufflet; grandsons Joshua (Amanda) and their children Norah and August; Brad (Olivia) and their children Evangeline and Nolan; and Jansen (Emily) Stoufflet. As well as former daughter in law, Gwen Rogers Duplantis. He’s also survived  by his sons, Druis (Sheila) and their son Garrett (Courtney) and family; and Myron (Susan) Neil and son Cameron. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.


He was preceded in passing by the love of his life, his wife, Marlin Martin Duplantis Neil; his parents, Willie and Adeline Picou Neil; brothers, Nollie, Albert, Wilbert, Lawrence, Edward, Clarence, and his twin Druby Neil; and sisters, Aline Theriot, Anita Russo, Alerine Naquin, Walterine Fanguy, Ignolia Neil, Eula Hebert, and Eunice Pellegrin.

Druis’ kind heart, contagious smile, and warm spirit touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He could often be found engaging in conversations with friends and neighbors, offering words of wisdom or lending a helping hand. His selflessness and generosity were a testament to his character.

His legacy will forever resonate within the hearts of his loved ones. His unconditional love, profound faith, and genuine compassion will continue to guide and inspire them. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory be a source of comfort.
