Ethel Mary Gravois Pourciau, 90, a native of Kahns, LA and resident of Baton Rouge, LA died Monday, March 14, 2022.

She is survived by her son, Glen Edward Pourciau and wife, Linda Helen Lane, of Tallahassee, Florida; daughters, Deborah Pourciau Ledford, of Baton Rouge and, Mary Pourciau Norris and husband, Thomas Benjamin Norris, of Denham Springs; grandchildren, Alicia Ledford Cheek, Michael Ledford, Melissa Rogers, Timothy Rogers, Christine Pourciau, David Pourciau and Chase Pourciau; great-grandchildren, Devan, Ethan, Lille, Gage, Jamie and Oliver.


She was preceded in death by her husband Raphael “Ray” Alphonse Pourciau; her parents, Henry John Gravois and Emily Melancon Gravois; and sons, Stephen Henry Pourciau and Russell James Pourciau; brothers, Roland Gravois, Lloyd Gravois, Henry Gravois, Jr, Francis Gravois; sisters, Adrienne Gravois Brazan, Geraldine Gravois Waguespack, Pearl Gravois McIver, and Barbara Gravois Jeanfreau.

Ethel Mary Gravois and Raphael Pourciau married June 6, 1953, at Holy Family Church in Port Allen.  She completed her nurses training at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University in 1953.

Until her relocation to Baton Rouge, Ethel Pourciau was an active member of the Terrebonne Fine Arts Guild and the Terrebonne Garden Club of Houma.  Not only was Ethel a talented artist and avid gardener, she excelled at her talents of sewing and crafts.  She also volunteered as a docent for the Southdown Plantation & Museum.


She was a parishioner of Maria Immaculate Catholic Church until she moved to Baton Rouge, LA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in memory of Ethel Pourciau to the Terrebonne Fine Arts Guild.
