Gary “Captain Frog” Simon, a beloved husband, devoted father, and cherished friend, passed away on November 27, 2023, at the age of 63. Born on September 5, 1960, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Gary was the son of Joseph and Eva Simon.

 

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation in the Magnolia Chapel of Chauvin Funeral Home on Saturday, December 2, 2023, beginning at 9:00AM until 3:00PM. A Celebration of Captain Frog’s Life will follow at 3:00PM with burial to be held at a later date.


 

Captain Frog is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Fran Lirette Simon; children, Brandie Willoughby and husband Nicholas, Samantha Ranes, Brooke Coulter and husband Howard, Jansen Simon, Logan Ranes and fiance’ Carmen Douglas; honorary daughter-in-law, Heidi Carr; grandchildren, Madison Lyons Marie and husband Dallas, Tanier Lyons, Alyssa Ranes and companion Dayton Boudreaux, Aiden Coulter, Hadley Coulter, Daymion Simon, Dax Simon, Davontay Simon, Jaysa Simon; great grandchildren, Dante Boudreaux, Jade Juniper Boudreaux, Kaydence Fay Marie, Dallas Marie, Jr., Kenna Marie, Langston Ranes; brothers, Gerald Simon and wife Sandra, Brian Simon and wife Nicole, Dave Parfait and wife Amanda Parfait. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

 

Captain Frog is preceded in death by his dad, Nolan Parfait and mother, Eva Boudin.

 

Captain Frog was a longtime resident of Terrebonne Parish but spent the last 18 years in Foxworth, Mississippi, where he established his home and built a life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. As a loving husband of 39 years, Gary shared a deep and unbreakable bond with his wife, Francine Simon. Their love was an inspiration to all who knew them, serving as a testament to the power of commitment and unwavering support.


 

Driven by his passion for the sea and adventure, Gary forged a successful career as a Boat Captain in the offshore industry. His expertise and dedication led him to serve with honor for 30 years at Otto Candies, LLC. Well-respected by his colleagues and loved by those who had the pleasure of sailing alongside him, Gary’s leadership and skill were second to none.

 

Outside of his professional life, Gary reveled in the great outdoors. He embraced the tranquility of nature and found peace in God’s beautiful creation. As an avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt deer and he weaved countless tales of his adventures, captivating everyone with his stories and infectious laughter.

 

Captain Frog was a man of wisdom and intellect, constantly seeking knowledge and growth. He valued education in which he utilized to excel in his career and achieved countless certificate as a Boat Captain.


 

Having served in the Army, he was also a proud veteran, exemplifying courage, dedication, and a strong sense of duty. His commitment to his country was unwavering, and his service will forever be remembered and appreciated.

 

Above all else, Captain Frog cherished his family. He was a loving father, nurturing his children with unconditional love, guidance, and endless support. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a special place in his heart, bringing joy and laughter to his life.

 

 

Captain Frog will be greatly missed but never forgotten. His legacy as a loving husband, devoted father, and remarkable friend will continue to inspire and bring warmth to all those whose lives he touched.


 

Rest in peace, Captain Frog, as you embark on your next great adventure. May your soul find eternal serenity in the embrace of our loving Creator.
