Genevieve Theresa Richard Chauvin

Genevieve Theresa Richard Chauvin, 93, passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 11:26am. Genevieve was a native of Grand Caillou, raised in New Orleans, LA and a resident of Theriot, LA.

Family and friends of the family are invited to a visitation at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Houma, LA on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 from 9:00am until service time. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow visitation at St. Anthony Church at 11:00am.  Burial will take place in St. Eloi Catholic Church Cemetery in Theriot, LA.

Genevieve is survived by her loving family; her children, Juanita Mazerac (Michael), Christine Bennett, David Chauvin Jr., Vickie Pontiff (Jan), and Denise Chauvin Porche; grandchildren, Stacie Walker, Allison Mazerac, Mickey Mazerac, Jamie Mazerac, Steven Theriot, Joaquin Bennett, Jed Pontiff, Melanie Pellegrin, Hunter Porche, Lauren Porche, and Olivia Porche, and twenty-eight loving great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Genevieve is preceded in passing by her husband, David Chauvin Sr., parents, James and Lena Brunet Richard; siblings, Felicie Rogers, Edgar Richard, Edward Richard, Florence Landry, Beulah Couvillion, Laura Chauvin, Wilma Chauvin, Edna Steele, Irma Richard, James Richard Jr., Daniel Richard, and Hermes Richard.

Genevieve loved flowers, gardening, and working in the garden.  She enjoyed her oil painting and painted the local landscapes, bayous, and flowers. She was also an exceptional seamstress. She was an excellent cook and loved making puzzles. She was a parishioner of St. Eloi Church in Theriot and also St. Anthony Church in Houma (Bayou Black).

Genevieve was a wonderful mother and adoring grandmother.
