Georgette Jones Savoie, born December 29, 1940, passed away after a battle with pancreatic cancer on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at the age of 80.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Samart Funeral Home on West Park from 9:00 am until her Celebration of Life service at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Rogers Cemetery in Bayou Blue.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 wonderful years, Carl J. Savoie, Sr. of Lower Bayou Blue; their children, Connie DeRoche (Gary), Donna Dufrene (Keith), Carla Jacob (Mark), Angela Crawford (Darin), and Carl “Joe” Savoie, Jr. (Karoline); fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sister, Linda Cobb (Roy).
She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Fredrick Jones; mother, Ella Laura Neal Jones; sister, Vergie Welborne Williams; and one great-grandson, Ian Michael Dufrene.
Georgette was a member of Bayou Blue Assembly of God. She drove a bus for Terrebonne Parish Schools for 35 years. She was affectionately known as Grandma, Granny G, and also Aunt Jet by her nieces and nephews. She loved her family deeply and she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
