Janie Mae Willis-Taylor “Black” was born December 12, 1945. She passed away peacefully at home with her loving family on the evening of July 10, 2023. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and resident of Houma, LA. Viewing will begin at 9:00 AM on July 22,2023 at Church Of Christ 163 Hollywood Road Houma, La until funeral time at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Crescent Farm Cemetery.

Janie Mae leaves behind a big loving family and extended loved ones from the entire community to cherish her memories. Her daughters Valarie (Lloyd) Saulsbury and Caulette Scott. Godchildren: Sylvester Porter and Phoebe Louviere. Grandchildren: La’Keitha, Shedrick, Kevin, Kareem, Jerome, Kendall, Daisha, Paula, Iniki, Malik and Des’Marie Scott. 30 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren. Brother and sister in-laws: Reginal (Sarah) Taylor, Norman (Angela) Taylor, Atron Thomas, and Giselle (Robert) Gray. 4 Nieces, 2 nephews and a host of many other loved ones.


She was preceded in death by her parents George Willis and Janie Sims-Willis. Husband: Malcolm Guy Taylor. Daughter: Paula Ann Scott. Brother: Ivory Granderson. Sister: Lucille Willis-Mosely. Grandsons: Willie Scoby Jr. and Ryan Akeem Scott. Brother and sister-in-laws: Robert, Alfred, Paula Dawn Taylor, and Theonita Tillman.
