JoAnn Theriot Bourgeois, 83, a native of Houma and resident of Thibodaux, passed away surrounded her by family on November 28, 2023.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 5th, 2023 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church starting at 9:00am until mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11:00am. The burial will follow at the church cemetery.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Rudie Lawrence Bourgeois, daughters, Sandy Bourgeois Marie (Jody), Wendy Bourgeois Van Dalen (Robert); sister, Paula Theriot Voisin (Christopher); grandchildren, Emily and Allie Van Dalen, Lauren Marie, Brooke Cheatham (Brad); great-grandchildren, Bryce, Karlie, Braxton, Blaise, Cali, Blake, and Brantley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucien ”LJ” Joseph Theriot and Hazel Marguerite Matherne Theriot.
JoAnn was a devout catholic, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who took much joy in cooking for family and friends. She was an Educator for 20 plus years who always believed in the underdog and that anyone was capable of learning. She was a selfless woman with many hobbies such as painting, traveling and spending time with family. JoAnn will missed by all who loved and knew her. May she rest in peace.
In lieu of flowers a college scholarship fund will be set up in her name. Please contact the family if you would like to make monetary donations to the fund.
