John Wade Bowie, age 63, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2022, surrounded by his loving family, Tina Rogers Bowie; daughter, Emily Bowie Savoie and husband Jonathan; sons, Blake Bowie and finance’ Morgan Berthelot, Brock Bowie; granddaughter, Vivian Savoie; brother, James “Jim” Bowie and wife Mona; sister, Jean Durocher and husband Phil.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Leo Bowie and Elizabeth “Betty” Hoffmann Bowie.


Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation in the Magnolia Chapel of Chauvin Funeral Home on Friday, July 8, 2022, beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at Chauvin Funeral Home on Saturday, July 9, 2022, beginning at 8:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Louis Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. with burial in the church cemetery.

John was a native of Thibodaux and a longtime resident of Houma. To know John was to know he was an amazing man with a loving and caring heart. He co-founded and was CEO of B & D Contracting, Inc. He was a longtime member of Krewe of Hercules and King in 2005. John had a big personality and was loved by all, he lived life to the fullest, loved traveling, but his favorite place was spending time at his camp in Grand Isle. Anyone who knew John, knew he never met a stranger and was known for his generosity.

John fought with courage and optimism throughout his cancer journey. The family would like to thank MD Anderson Cancer Center, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, especially Dr. Manthri, and Patty Voss and staff with Haydel Memorial Hospice.
