Leona Mae LeCompte, 84, a lifelong resident of Houma passed away peacefully on December 17, 2023.


Family and friends are invited to a visitation in her honor on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Chauvin Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until a Liturgy of the Word at 11:00 a.m. Burial to immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery.

Leona is survived by her children, Wade LeCompte (Kathy), Lori L. Christopher, Fran LeCompte, Jeff LeCompte, and Paul LeCompte; grandchildren, Lorie (Shane), Nikki, Kelli, Allyson (Matt), Ross, Megan (Thomas), Katie (Dillon), Jacob (Katie), and Stephen; great-grandchildren, Whitney, Stella, Will, Rose, Avery, Lainey, Riley, Charlie, Chanler, Reese, Leif, Bella, and baby LeCompte; and brothers, Wilson LeBoeuf, Jr., Warren LeBoeuf, and Michael LeBoeuf.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles LeCompte; parents, Wilson and Leona LeBoeuf; and brothers, Stephen “Russell” LeBoeuf and Robert “Bobby” LeBoeuf.


She was a woman of deep compassion and gentle spirit, always showing empathy and understanding towards others. Leona’s warm personality and genuine smile infused positivity into the lives of all who crossed her path. Throughout her life, Leona nurtured a passion for beauty and nature. The vibrant colors of blooming flowers and the scent of freshly cut grass brought her immense joy. Among her favorite pastimes was tending to her garden.

In her quiet moments, Leona sought relaxation in the pages of word search books, savoring every moment as she unraveled the hidden treasures held within the letters. Cooking was an art that Leona mastered with finesse. Her kitchen was a haven of mouthwatering aromas and delectable flavors. Leona held a special place in her heart for her weenie dogs, providing them with unconditional love. Their wagging tails and loving licks were a source of immeasurable happiness in her life.

Leona loved taking weekend getaways with her daughters and granddaughters. Above all, Leona’s greatest joy came from spending time with her beloved children and her treasured grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Their laughter and love brought infinite joy to her life, and she cherished every precious moment shared together.


She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her. Her memory will live on through the stories passed down from generation to generation, reminding us all to embrace the beauty of life and to cherish the time we have with our loved ones. Leona was the most selfless person any had met, putting everyone before herself.
