Robert “Bobby” Kently Fairchild, 89, a native of Gonzales, LA, and a longtime resident of Houma, LA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, February 8, 2024.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation in his honor on Monday, February 19, 2024, at Annunziata Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. Burial to follow at St. Francis Cemetery No. 2.


Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jean Leonard Fairchild; sons, Kentley Fairchild (Heather), James Fairchild (Karen), and Michael Fairchild; daughter, Kimberly Fairchild Chauvin (Chad); grandchildren, Shawna, Candace, Collin, Whitney, Katie, Catherine, Jacob, Mason, and Joshua; great-grandchildren, Victor, Greyson, Asa, Charlie, and Parker; brother, Jean Fairchild; sisters, Cynthia Andermann, Donith Kling, Claire Phillips, Cheryl Fairchild, and Meryl Fairchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Mattie Fairchild;  daughter, Lisa Fairchild; brother, Alvin “Buck” Fairchild, and sisters, Ella Foster and Martha George.

Growing up in a small town, Bobby developed a strong work ethic, instilled with values of integrity, resilience, and compassion. He was a devoted Catholic and loved his parish church, Annunziata Catholic Church.


Beyond his professional endeavors, Bobby pursued various passions that brought him immense joy and fulfillment in life. He had an adventurous spirit and found solace in nature’s embrace, indulging in the tranquility of hunting and fishing. His green thumb transformed his backyard into a vibrant sanctuary, where he cultivated blooming gardens that reflected his love for beauty and growth. Bobby was not only a master angler and horticulturist but also a talented chef, renowned for his culinary creations and cherished family meals. But above all else, he treasured the time spent with his beloved family, creating lasting memories filled with love, laughter, and shared experiences.

Bobby will forever be remembered for his warm smile, his genuine care for others, and his unwavering dedication to his loved ones. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion, humility, and a zest for life that will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

In this time of sorrow, let us gather together to remember Robert’s vibrant spirit, his captivating stories, and the profound impact he had on all those fortunate enough to have known him. May his memory forever inspire us to live each day with passion, gratitude, and an unwavering commitment to those we hold dear.


Rest in peace, dear Robert. You will be deeply missed, but your legacy will live on in our hearts forever.
