Preceded in death by his parents, Jan and Maria Chwalek, his brother, Edward Chwalek, and his great-grandson, Joseph Dominic LeBlanc.

Walter came to America in 1949 when he was 13 years old with his parents and younger brother. He graduated from St. Francis de Sales School in 1954 and became a naturalized citizen that year.

Walter was devoted to God, country and family. He retired from Texaco and was a member of the Louisiana National Guard. He volunteered much time to various Catholic church organizations, worked for many elections at the voting polls, and was always available to his children and grandchildren.

Walter’s St. Francis de Sales senior yearbook had the following quote near his graduation picture:

“To live as well as I can live—-To give whatever I may give.” It went on to say, “We all admire Walter’s never ceasing desire to ‘make the best better’.” We believe that this tribute to Walter was definitely accurate!

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers Masses offered for the repose of his soul.
