What does Election Day 2012 mean to Louisiana business?

Dear Editor,

Jeff Landry wants to represent the 3rd congressional district. So, naturally, he will highlight and emphasize his opponent’s less-than-conservative voting record. The goal is to distinguish himself ideologically, get more votes and win.

It’s a great system we have.

But the other side takes hysterical objection to Landry’s pounding of their candidate’s voting record. It’s a little too irrefutable. A little too challenge-proof. Every time Boustany looks at his record, it’s still there. So his camp must deflect attention from the record by launching personal attacks and attributing all the unpleasantness to lamentable “dirty” politics.

The Boustany record won’t go away. And it looks very much like the Obama record.

While America is broke and getting broker, Obama supported huge debt ceiling increases. So did Boustany. Obama funneled billions to his friends in the corrupt green energy racket – Boustany supported it, too, while Louisiana oil and gas workers were trying to survive a drilling moratorium and save their homes.

Bank and auto industry bailouts?

Boustany voted with the president to send astronomical amounts of your money to help companies who should be responsible for themselves. Have you or your family ever gotten a government bailout? Have you ever even asked for one?

Boustany helped Obama shove the ill-fated Cash for Clunkers program down our throats, forcing us to again subsidize reckless, irresponsible spending. (There is no recorded Boustany position on the Obama phone freebies.)

Congressman Boustany is by all accounts a decent man. But his actions in Congress reveal a voting pattern that is not conservative, not responsible, and not informed by common sense.

We can do better. Choose a real conservative who will fight for you, not the Washington tax and spend establishment. Choose Congressman Jeff Landry.
