The fights have officially been set for Houma’s upcoming fight night.

Promoter Chad Broussard confirmed to the Tri-Parish Times this week that the card is set for the “Smoking Hot Fight Night” coming to the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center on Oct. 5.

The promoter said the event will feature at least eight bouts and will feature top Louisiana prospects Mason Menard and Morgan Fitch headline the night, which Broussard continually touts as a top-notch show.

“I will keep saying it – these are going to be the best fights that the Houma area has seen,” Broussard said. “When you look at the quality of the fighters that we have on the show and also the quality of the matchups in each individual fight, we are going to really have a card here that the people can be happy with.”

In the card Broussard released this week, there were eight total fights listed – three four-round bouts, four six-round bouts and a 12-round title fight.

In the four-round fights, two touted amateurs will Payton Guidry and Devin Parker will tangle with one another in a bout that will be each fighter’s professional debut.

Guidry is a Larose native. Parker lives and trains in New Orleans.

“Both of these guys are coming in with good amateur experience, so this is going to be a good fight,” Broussard said. “No one wants to lose your first fight as a pro. Both of these guys are going to be coming here to win.”

Houma native Sergio Sarabia and Larose native Devon Adams will also compete in separate four-round bouts.

In the six-round fights, Martin and Justin Verdin will compete in separate bouts.

Fitch, an undefeated prospect from Pittsburgh, will compete against Tyrone Selders – a guy whom Broussard touts will provide a stiff test to his challenger.

“This guy Tyrone Selders is as tough as a brick wall,” Broussard said. “He’s going to be a very tough challenge for Morgan Fitch. That’s going to be a good fight for the fans.”

Broussard said the only hole to be filled on the card is finding an opponent for Menard.

Broussard said he has a few verbal commitments from fighters that would like to challenge for the 24-year-old Rayne native’s UBO Lightweight Title.

If that can be situated, Menard’s bout will be for the title.

Broussard repeatedly promised a tough, entertaining fight regardless.

“I know two things for sure – I know God and I know boxing,” Broussard said. “This is going to be a big night, and Mason is going to have an opponent for this show. Even if I have to put on gear and get into the ring myself, Mason is going to have an opponent for the show.”
