Dear family and friends,

I’ve always considered myself a high-stakes kind of woman. In every aspect of life, I love to dream big and seek the highest possible rewards within any given profession.

Needless to say, this past week was a dream for me as a basketball player.

For the first time in my life, I experienced playoff basketball at the professional level!

Before I dive into the playoffs, let me tell you about my week – it was a pretty good one, to say the least.

For starters, we won our game last Tuesday and snapped our losing streak! After losing so many games in a row, we almost forgot how awesome it feels to get victory.

In that game, I scored 10 points and also a handful of rebounds and assists.

But to me, stats mean nothing when my team gets a victory – winning is all that matters.

Looking up and seeing the scoreboard at the end of the game was a huge sense of relief. It was also a confidence booster for us heading toward postseason play.

But more important than basketball, the day following our victory was even better! I finally found a Chili’s in Puerto Rico.

For a woman like me that enjoys some grilled salmon, that is like finding gold on the beach – it just doesn’t get any better than that!

I devoured my plate in record time and really enjoyed having a full belly!

But now let’s talk about basketball – as I said above, this is a fun week to be a basketball player.

Following our win last Tuesday, we clinched the No. 4 seed in the playoffs – a huge accomplishment for our team.

Let me explain to you how our playoff system works here.

Firstly, six teams make the playoffs – the top two teams get first-round byes.

From that formula, No. 3 plays No. 6 and No. 4 plays No. 5.

Getting the No. 4-seed was huge for us as a team because it meant that we got home-court advantage in the first round of games.

We started the playoffs Saturday against this team called Juncos. They are the same team that we defeated last Tuesday to get the monkey off our back.

We played a hard-fought best of 3 series with them, winning the first game, but losing the second. We played Game 3 on Tuesday – hopefully it was a victory.

If we won, we moved onto the Quarterfinals.

That series will be a best of 5.

Should we win, we’d advance to the league finals – a best of 7 competition.

I’m hungry for a championship!

I love playoff basketball.

Let’s hope our team is still alive in my next update!

God bless you all!
