Add another feather to the already-decorated cap of Nicholls senior Megan Landry’s cap.

The talented hurler surpassed 500 strikeouts for her career on Wednesday night, tossing a shutout in Nicholls’ 3-0 victory over Southern at Swanner Field.

Landry was dominant in the win for Nicholls softball, allowing just one hit and striking out nine in seven innings, improving the Colonels to 17-16 on the season.

She entered the game needing just five strikeouts to reach the mark and she did so quickly, posting the milestone in the third inning.

Landry’s stellar pitching boosted a Nicholls offense that was good, but not great against Southern, plating single runs in the first, third and fifth innings in the win.

Center fielder Kasey Frederick did most of the damage in the win, stroking an RBI sacrifice fly, while also measuring an RBI single.

Catcher Kali Clement stayed hot, posting a 3-for-3 night with an RBI, as well.

The Colonels return to action this weekend against Northwestern State at home – a pivotal series for Nicholls in the quest to win the Southland Conference regular season title again.
