Inside the confines of a boxing ring or MMA cage, local fighter Macy Breaux is as mean as they come – a hard-punching knockout machine who is quickly rising up the local ranks in both sports.

But outside of the sports scene, Breaux is a self-described fitness nut with a passion – a strong desire to keep the people of the Houma-Thibodaux area healthy and fit throughout their adult lives.

Breaux recently started Macy’s Meal Prep LLC – a startup business which teaches meal preparation and fitness to people, encouraging others to take control of their lives through healthy eating.

Breaux said the business is a dream come true and she hopes to knockout local obesity – much like she tries to knockout opponents in her fights.

“I was always very interested in my own health and nutrition, so, of course, I studied things and experimented,” Breaux said. “So I started meal prepping for myself and, of course, people saw results from the eating aspect, which is the hardest part of fitness. … Once I started posting the images of the food I would prep for my fight week of just a regular old week, people would want me to help them prep or give them a macro break down of my diet, so I figured I would take it a step farther and help people with their healthy lifestyle.”

This is a true passion for Breaux.

She lives a fitness lifestyle every, single day of her life.

On social media, Breaux shares her journey, often posting video of herself working out – either while running or doing other fitness-related activities.

When not able to video herself, Breaux’s statuses are almost all based on living a healthy lifestyle – either updates on which gym she’s training at in a day or inspirational quotes designed to keep others active, healthy and fit.

As a boxer and MMA fighter, the fitness pays off.

Breaux is lean, but strong – able to fight with massive strength, despite being able to keep her weight down low enough to compete in the leanest weight classes.

One of her trainers, Justin Verdin, said the sky is the limit for Breaux, who is relatively new to both sports, but who has dreamed of being a fighter her whole life – dating back to her early days when she’d watch boxers jog past her house from the nearby gym.

“She’s really, really good, man,” Verdin said. “And the thing about Macy is the passion. She really is committed and she wants to do well. She works so hard and is always trying to better herself. And that’s really the biggest thing. So many people don’t have that drive. Everyone loves fight night, but not everyone loves the process of getting in shape to get ready for fight night. Macy loves the fitness side of it all and I think that it makes it so much easier for her to stay in shape.”

Eating right throughout the day goes a long way, too, according to Breaux.

The process of meal prepping, she said, is a key cog which allows exercise to work to its truest potential for a given person.

She said it ensures that all the hard work being put in will pay off as best as it can for a particular person’s body.

“What you eat plays a major role in how you perform throughout the day,” Breaux said. “Food is your fuel. You need a balanced diet in order to maintain a certain fitness level or energy level. I always like to tell people that you can’t work out a bad diet. You can train day-in and day-out, but it comes down to how you fuel your diet for someone to see gains.”

To get involved is really simple.

Breaux said anyone who wants to get involved in the meal prep lifestyle should call mbreaux@its.nicholls.edu. They can also find her on Facebook or on Instagram at @MacyBreaux_Fit or Macys_Meal_Prep.

She said packages are affordable and are priced to sell, because for her, it’s not so much about the money, but more about the ability to give back to others and help them achieve their fitness goals.

Breaux said she prepares the food herself and each meal has a little artistic flare to it – helping feed all three of her passions into one.

“I love to fight, in the cage or ring, of course,” Breaux said with a laugh. “That’s a passion I have. But I also love to cook and I’m into art, so everything I cook and prepare, I make sure it’s presentable and pretty. I want my food to taste good and look good. Three options that will be available are Paleo, Gain and Maintain and it’s that way because I know not everyone is looking for the same results, so I want to be able to provide something for everyone.”

She said she knows the products and plans work because she’s a customer of her own business and has been so for years.

Breaux said without meal prep, getting ready for a fight would be way more difficult.

“This helps me so much,” Breaux said. “It’s convenient, especially when I’m working, bringing my son to school, trying to do things around the house and make it to the gym for my training – it gets hectic. Once I started prepping one day a week and having my meals there for me, it got so much easier. I eat right and I feel so much better and I have the energy I need to train throughout the day.

“Meal prepping and having a healthy lifestyle are so important to me, and that’s why I want to share it with others. I want it to be important to others, as well.”
