The LSU volleyball team was given one of Baton Rouge’s highest honors last Wednesday, as mayor Melvin “Kip” Holden declared Aug. 4, “LSU Volleyball Day.”

Holden said he honored the team after hearing the commitment LSU volleyball coach Fran Flory has made to rally fan support throughout the community.

Flory has abandoned the comforts of her home and has moved into an RV in the Tiger Stadium parking lot – a move she said will last until the Tigers generate 500 new followers in any individual week on Twitter.

“I’m very excited to receive this award and am so thankful for the support shown by our great Mayor Kip Holden and the Baton Rouge community,” Flory said. “So many people have visited me and I could not be more appreciative.”
