Nicholls State football coach Charlie Stubbs announced Thursday that former UNLV player Mario Jeberaeel has joined the team’s coaching staff as a graduate assistant.

“We are excited to have a young, energetic coach like Mario in our program,” Stubbs said. “He is a great role model for our student-athletes, always putting his academics first and working tirelessly in everything that he does.”

With the Colonels, Jeberaeel will work with the team’s offensive line, as well as assisting in other areas of the program.

Nicholls’ offensive line coach Keith Uperesa said he believes the 23-year-old coach should be an integral piece in helping turn the Colonels’ program into a winner.

Jeberaeel played for Uperesa as a collegiate player at UNLV, where he lettered for four seasons.

“Mario is very conscientious, and a very hard-working young man,” said Uperesa. “He is fitting in well here, and will be a great asset to our program at Nicholls.”
