Dutchtown wins weekend’s Cardinal Relays titles

Dutchtown High School won the boys’ and girls’ team titles at the 32nd annual Cardinal Relays at E.D. White last Friday.


The girls’ team’s 186 points doubled that of second place Vandebilt Catholic’s 93, and nearly tripled third place E.D. White’s, 86.5. Central Catholic finished eighth with 24 points and Thibodaux came in tenth with four points.

On the boy’s side, E.D. White came in fourth place with 70 points and Vandebilt followed in fifth place with 69. Both were far behind Dutchtown’s 127.33 points.


Dutchtown girls’ 100-meter relay team set a Cardinal Relay record with a time of 48.91 seconds, besting the old mark set by Country Day in 1991.


Notable local performances include E.D. White’s Chase Clement who finished first in the javelin (163 feet, 7 inches) and the shot put (55 feet). Plus, he had a second place finish in the discus (150 feet, 9 inches).

Lindsay Constant (5:42:78) and Taylor Dugruise (5:49:68) of E.D. White finished first and second respectively in the 1,600-meter run.

Genevieve Leslie (2:31:30) and Lindsay Constant (2:38:22) of E.D. White finished first and second respectively in the 800-meter run.

Kelsie Coats of E.D. White won the 3,200-meter run in a time of 12:48:29.

Vandebilt Catholic was victorious in the pole vault competitions. Christopher Watson won the boys event with a leap of 14 feet, 3 inches, while Amber Laurent won the girls title with a leap of 10 feet.
