The New Orleans Hornets have hired Gerald Madkins to serve as the team’s new vice president of player personnel, according to multiple reports.

The front office veteran, Madkins joins the Bees after spending the past two seasons as the director of scouting for the Hornets’ Southwestern Division rival, the Houston Rockets.

Prior to joining the Rockets, Madkins also has had stints in the scouting departments for both the New York Knicks and Seattle Supersonics (now Oklahoma City Thunder).

As a player, the 41-year-old Madkins had a standout career at UCLA, before moving on to play for the Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA.
