The New Orleans Hornets, in conjunction with the local coastal advocacy organization Restore or Retreat, are holding a “Save the Wetlands” night for the team’s Nov.17 game against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Fans who fill up “The Hive” for the game will be helping the coastal restoration effort simply by buying a ticket.

As part of a community give-back initiative and to coincide with two large environmental conferences in town, a portion of the proceeds from tickets sold in the Club, Upper Sideline, Corner and End sections will be donated to Restore or Retreat.

Ticket prices range from $14 in the Upper End to $173 in the Club level.

“We are thrilled about this wonderful opportunity that the Hornets have given us to spread our message of sustainable restoration to residents of the Greater New Orleans Area, and we are grateful for their donation,” said Restore or Retreat President Mike Plaisance. “The Hornets’ ‘Save the Wetlands’ night will be a fun, out-of-the-ordinary way to get people engaged in our fight to save the Barataria and Terrebonne basins while they are enjoying a great night of professional basketball. We encourage local residents to head to The Hive on Nov. 17.”

Since 2000, ROR has been actively engaged in the day-to-day effort to aggressively implement sustainable restoration projects for our area and has been working diligently to advocate on the state and federal level for comprehensive, sustainable restoration projects for the Barataria and Terrebonne basins, according to a press release.

ROR works throughout the year on projects in our area, such as long distance pipeline sediment delivery; the Mississippi River Delta Management Study; Donaldsonville to the Gulf hurricane protection, a long-term, large-scale regional restoration project, and freshwater management.

More information on the game is available on the Restore or Retreat Web site at www.restoreorretreat. org. To directly purchase game tickets, contact Trish Snider of the New Orleans Hornets at (985) 593-4740.

The deadline to purchase tickets for the game is Nov. 5.
