March 12, 2009The Bayou Horseshoe Pitchers Association will have their annual “Day in the Park” Sunday at 10 a.m. at Kemper Williams Park in Patterson.
The BHPA will sanction new members for the upcoming season of tournament and league play. Also, a hi-lo (high player matched with a low player), blind draw, doubles round robin tournament is scheduled after sanctioning is complete.
The sanction fee is $22 for adults and $7 for juniors (under 18). Adult league play is $40. The fee entitles players to all Tuesday night leagues and awards along with the City Singles and Doubles Tournament held in November.
The annual banquet, where all awards are presented, is held in January. Tournament play is handicapped except at state tournaments.
Women, juniors and adult men 70 and older pitch from 30 feet. All others throw from 40 feet
Members will meet at the park Tuesday, March 17, at 6:30 p.m., to draw teams for the Adult Coed Spring League, which will begin March 24 at 6:30 p.m. All league nights are on Tuesdays.
