The Terrebonne Lady Tigers clinched at least a share of the District 8-5A crown by defeating H.L. Bourgeois 7-0 Saturday.

If Terrebonne (17-7-1, 9-0 in district) wins one of their final three games, they will be champs outright.

Between the Lady Tigers five-run first inning burst and pitcher Shelby Bourque’s dominance, the Lady Braves (12-12, 5-4) had too big of a hole to dig out.

Bourque stuck out 11 and scattered three hits in the complete game victory.

“She shut us down,” said an exasperated Bourgeois coach Russell Shaw. “She had command of the game from the get-go.”

With the bases loaded in the first, catcher Jacey Mouton hit a two-run double scoring Bourque and Brooke Pellegrin. Second baseman Danielle Doiron hit a single to score Jenaye Deroche. Errors on back-to-back plays allowed the final two Tiger runs of the inning.

Gabby Seitz took the loss for Bourgeois, permitting 11 hits and only striking out two.

Seitz, Brenna King and Megan King each got a hit off Bourque.

Terrebonne scored twice in the sixth. Mouton slapped an RBI double to score the first and Danielle Liner popped an RBI single for the other run.

“I told them we had to score something else. We can’t just sit on what we scored in the first inning,” said Terrebonne coach Bess Guerrero. “They know my rule: one run per inning.”

Bourgeois threatened in the sixth and seventh, placing two runners on base each time. But Bourque got out of both jams without a run.

Houma Christian beats E.D. White, 6-3

Houma Christian extended their winning streak to 15 games by beating E.D. White 6-3 Saturday.

The Lady Warriors (20-4, 3-0) scored three runs in the first, one in the second, and two in the third inning.

Shira LaGrecca went 3-for-3 with a double, two singles and an RBI.

Despite surrendering her first runs in district play, Laurin Crowdus dominated on the mound in a complete game four-strikeout, three-hit effort.

Jeanne Robichaux suffered the loss for the Cardinals (13-10).

H.L. Bourgeois wins over Terrebonne, 6-3

H.L. Bourgeois knocked in six runs early then held on Saturday for a 6-3 win over Terrebonne.

Right fielder Sean Harvey led the Braves (9-12, 2-2) at the plate going 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two steals.

Beau Michel went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Tigers (6-13, 1-3).

Jake Fabre earned the win allowing three runs on eight hits, eight strikeouts and six walks in six innings.

Jake Trosclair took the loss giving up four runs in two innings.

Vandebilt gets 6-1 win over Belle Chasse

The powerful Vandebilt hitting machine stalled for almost six innings against Belle Chasse Saturday.

The second ranked team in Class 4A didn’t get a hit off Cardinals lefthander Andrew Popic until the bottom of the sixth with two outs and trailing 1-0.

That is when first baseman Reece Bergeron blasted a two-run homer over the left field fence to propel the Terriers to a 6-1 victory.

Popic endured the loss and was charged three runs on one hit.

Jeff DeBlieux pitched a complete game win allowing one run on eight hits, seven strikeouts and three walks.

Vandebilt improves to 21-1, 6-0 in district, while Belle Chasse fell to 16-6, 3-3.

So. Terrebonne beats Central Lafourche, 13-4

South Terrebonne didn’t have a hangover from their first loss of the season. Instead they took their anger out on Central Lafourche with a 13-4 win.

Gilbert Bergeron got the win with seven strikeouts for the Gators (15-1, 3-1). Mike Bergeron hit a three-run homer in the third for South Terrebonne.

The Trojans (10-13, 3-2) committed eight errors, and Austin Naquin took the loss. Kevin Caro went 3-for-3 and scored one run in defeat.
