There wasn’t any rain at The Swamp Thursday night, but there was plenty of &#8220Thunder.”

The owner of the nickname, Jereme Lagarde, collected 257 yards and three touchdowns on 27 rushes to lead the Braves to a convincing 40-14 victory over Ellender Thursday.

&#8220The Braves are back, and we’re on the war path,” said H.L. Bourgeois coach Randy Boquet after the win.

Lagarde’s performance broke the school’s single-game rushing record. But he was also the player who jumpstarted the Braves offense when he scored on a 3-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

Patriots signal caller Hosea Chatman answered right back with a 1-yard QB sneak.

On the ensuing kickoff, however, Caleb Williams took the ball back 85-yards for the touchdown, giving the Braves momentum that would stay with them throughout most of the game.

Then, with 1:23 left in the first quarter, Christian Williams ran 7-yards to score his only touchdown of the game.

Christian Williams later finished with 121 yards on 13 carries.

Lagarde added another touchdown from a 14-yard run at the 9:32 mark of the second quarter.

&#8220I felt pretty good,” Lagarde said. &#8220I still hurt – I’m at about 85 percent. But next week look out because I should be at 100 percent.”

The &#8220three-headed monster” of Christian Williams, Jereme Lagarde and Caleb Williams combined for 430 out of the team’s 501 rushing yards.

&#8220It’s such a breath of fresh air to just concentrate on football and not on any other distraction,” said H.L. Bourgeois coach Randy Boquet. &#8220I’m very proud of these young men on the way they handled themselves.”

The Tarpons’ 203 second-half yards were too little too late against a South Terrebonne team that seemed to always have the big play.

South Terrebonne’s Kody Breaux rushed for 64 yards on 14 attempts, but it was his 93-yard kickoff return for a touchdown that killed the Tarpons’ momentum.
