Players named for local All-Star game

With the prep baseball season now complete, a few standout seniors will be given an opportunity to take the field one last time as a high school player.

This Saturday marks the annual Friday Night Sports All-Star High School Baseball Classic presented by Thibodaux Regional Medical Center.

The game will take place at Nicholls’ Ray E. Didier Stadium and it will showcase the standout players in Lafourche, Terrebonne, St. Mary and Assumption Parishes. The event will be played in the format of a round-robin with Lafourche and Terrebone having their own teams and St. Mary and Assumption combining for a team.

The games begin at 10:30 a.m. with Lafourche taking on Terrebonne. And a home run derby featuring the top sluggers from each team will also take place in between Games 2 and 3.
