X-rays on New Orleans Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey’s ribs are negative after he was injured scoring a touchdown on his 500th career catch.

Shockey caught a 7-yard TD pass from Drew Brees late in the first quarter of Sunday’s 34-3 win over Carolina before he was hit hard by Charles Godfrey. Shockey staggered to his feet and then walked to the locker room.

Just before halftime, Shockey was spotted walking from the locker room to the back of an ambulance while dressed in street clothes. Coach Sean Payton says it was a precaution to make sure he didn’t have a more serious injury.

Payton provided no further update on when Shockey would be able to return.

The milestone catch gave Shockey 33 touchdowns in his nine-year career.

If Shockey is going to miss extended time, rookie Jimmy Graham is expected to see more action.

Graham caught his first touchdown of his career in Sunday’s win.

The former Miami standout was a 2009 draft pick of the team.
