Central Lafourche

Last week: lost 29-6 vs.Belle Chasse


Central Lafourche wrapped up its season, losing to non-district opponent, Belle Chasse. The Trojans finished the year 1-9 overall and 1-5 in district play. Neal Foret led the Trojans against Belle Chasse, going 12-for-26 for 128 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. Neil Adams caught six passes for 75 yards and a touchdown.

Ellender


Last week: lost 13-8 vs. Thibodaux


Playing for its playoff life, Ellender gave up a late score, losing to Thibodaux 13-8. With the loss, Ellender finished its season 4-6 overall and 2-4 in district action. The Patriots were outgained 272-133, but led 8-7 with just over a minute remaining. Jesse Turner led the way for the Patriots with 55 yards on 15 carries.

H.L. Bourgeois


Last week: won 28-21 at South Lafourche

The Braves needed overtime to close its regular season with a win over district opponent South Lafourche. The Braves will enter the state playoffs with a 6-4 record (5-1 district). The Braves built a 21-7 halftime lead, before surrendering 14-unanswered points in the second half. Jeremy Lagarde’s overtime touchdown run provided the winning margin. The Braves enter the state playoffs as the No. 27 seed, and travel to No. 6 Acadiana.

South Lafourche

Last week: lost 28-21 vs. H.L. Bourgeois


The Tarpons wrapped up their season with an overtime loss to H.L. Bourgeois. The loss dropped South Lafourche to 3-7 overall and 2-4 in district. The Tarpons fell behind by 14 at halftime, but tied the game in the second half to force overtime. H.L. Bourgeois scored on its first possession, and South Lafourche failed to answer.

South Terrebonne


Last week: won 44-21 vs. Terrebonne


The No. 5 ranked South Terrebonne Gators completed their first undefeated regular season since 2001 by defeating rival Terrebonne last Friday night in Bourg. The Gators led from beginning to end, building a 28-9 halftime lead. On the legs of Philip Livas (138 rushing yards, two touchdowns), South Terrebonne held on to its lead to clinch an outright District 6-5A title. South Terrebonne enters the playoffs as the No. 10 seed, and will host Holy Cross.

Terrebonne


Last week: lost 44-21 at South Terrebonne

The Tigers wrapped up their regular season 2-8 overall and 2-4 in district with a 44-21 loss to rival South Terrebonne. The Tigers trailed the entire way. They were led by running back Byron Jones, who ran for 123 yards on 19 carries. Overall, the Tigers gained 403 yards, compared to 428 by South Terrebonne.

Thibodaux

Last week: won 13-8 at Ellender


The Thibodaux Tigers earned the No. 32 seed in the state playoffs with its last-minute victory over Ellender, last Friday night. With :25 seconds left, Adrian Joseph scored from two yards out to give Thibodaux the lead. The two-point attempt failed, and Thibodaux’s defense preserved the win. The Tigers travel to No. 2 seed Fountainebleau.

E.D. White


Last week: won 20-12 vs. West St. Mary


The E.D. White Cardinals won their first outright district championship since 2002 with its 20-12 win over West St. Mary, Friday night in Thibodaux. The Cardinals clung to a 7-6 lead until late in the game, before scoring two unanswered touchdowns to take a 20-6 lead. Chase Clement led the Cardinals with two receptions for 73 yards and two touchdowns. E.D. White will travel at the No. 23 seed to No. 10 Parkview.

Vandebilt

Last week: 41-6 vs. O.P. Walker

The Terriers enter the state playoffs riding a wave of momentum, having defeated their last two opponents by a combined score of 76-6. Vandebilt ended its regular season by beating O.P. Walker 41-6 and finishing its regular season 5-4 overall and 2-2 in district. The No. 22 Terriers travel to face No. 11 Haughton.

Patterson

Last week: won 48-8 vs. Franklin

The Lumberjacks completed their regular season with three consecutive victories by defeating Franklin 48-8. Patterson finished its regular season with a 7-3 overall record and 3-1 in district, its lone district loss coming to E.D. White, 20-19. The Lumberjacks enter the playoffs as the No. 21 seed and travel to No. 12 Church Point.

Berwick

Last week: lost 39-0 at Lake Charles-Boston

The Panthers were shut out for the fourth consecutive game, finishing their season 1-9 overall and 0-4 in district. In those final four games, the Panthers were outscored 138-0.

Morgan City

Last week: lost 35-0 vs. Breaux Bridge

The Morgan City finished the year winless with a 35-0 loss to Breaux Bridge, last Friday night. On the season, the Tigers finished 0-10 overall and 0-7 in district play.

Central Catholic

Last week: won 35-14 vs. Delcambre

A slow start to the season cost Central Catholic a spot in the playoffs, as it finished 4-6 overall and 3-2 in district play. The Eagles finished the year by winning three of their last four games.

Nicholls State

Last week: won 21-19 at Texas St.

The Nicholls State Colonels kept their Southland Conference title hopes alive with a come from behind win over the Bobcats in “The Battle for the Paddle.” The Colonels fell behind 13-0 at halftime, but scored three third-quarter touchdowns to take a 21-13 lead. Texas St. scored as time expired, but a Levon Bailey tackle caused the two-point attempt to fail.

LSU

Last week: won 28-24 at Tennessee

The LSU Tigers won on the road for the first time this season, although it took late-game heroics by quarterback JaMarcus Russell to get the job done. With :09 seconds left in the game, Russell connected with Early Doucet on a 4-yard touchdown pass that provided the margin for victory. The win keeps LSU’s slim SEC West title hopes alive.

New Orleans Saints

Last week: won 31-14 at Tampa Bay Bucs

Last-minute heroics were not needed this time, as the New Orleans convincingly defeated Tampa Bay, improving to 6-2 on the season. Drew Brees, Marques Colston and Devery Henderson led the attack, with Brees going 24-for-32 for 314 yards and three touchdowns. Colston caught 11 passes for 123 yards and a touchdown, while Henderson has 3 grabs for 111 yards and two touchdowns.
