Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League to host tourney


The Louisiana Division of the $8.8 million Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League will visit the Atchafalaya Basin in Morgan City on March 10. It is the second of five regular-season events in the Louisiana Division, and as many as 200 boaters and 200 co-anglers are expected to compete in the tournament.


Anglers may register for the tournament online at FLWOutdoors.com, or by calling (270) 252-1000. Onsite registration will be held March 9, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Wal-Mart store located at 973 Hwy. 90 East in Bayou Vista.

Entry fees are $200 for boaters and $100 for co-anglers.


Jesse Fontenot Memorial Boat Launch in Berwick will host the takeoff at 6 a.m., and the weigh-in at 3 p.m.


Future regular-season events will visit Bayou Black in Gibson (April 28), Red River in Natchitoches (May 19) and a two-day Super Tournament on the Atchafalaya Basin in Morgan City (Sept. 22-23).

Inaugural Captain Sam’s Redfish Rodeo set for March 24

The 17th Annual Cypress Sawmill Festival Association invites fisherman to participate in the Inaugural Captain Sam’s Redfish Rodeo on March 24, in honor of Captain Sam Smith.

†Start time will be at 6 a.m. at the Berwick Public Boat Landing, located on River Road.† Tournament entry fees are $250 per boat with up to four people allowed in one boat. Weigh-ins will be held at 4 p.m. at the Louisiana State Museum, located at 118 Cotten Road in Patterson. First, second and third place trophies will be given for the heaviest fish.

†Sponsorships are available at $500.00 and include your company name on a banner at the Cypress Sawmill Festival, †a three-day festival pass, free subscription to the festival newsletter, free admission to the LA State Museum n Patterson, fishing tournament entry fee and an invitation to the Contributor’s Reception.

The 17th Annual Cypress Sawmill Festival will be held March 31 through April 1.
