August 5, 2010• Friday – The Lafourche Deputies Association’s annual softball tournament begins at the Lockport Baseball Park on Columbus Street. The cost to enter a team is $175 or $200 if registration is the day of the event.
• Aug. 10 – Nicholls State’s “Huddle with the Colonels” tour stops at Vandebilt Catholic High School in Houma. Featured at the tour will be Colonels’ coach Charlie Stubbs, as well as some of Nicholls’ most prominent returnees. Attendance is free and the events lasts from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
• Aug. 14-15 – The 2nd Annual John A. Brady, Jr., Golf Classic will be held at LaTour Golf Club in Mathews. The tournament will consist of a 45-hole better ball match play bracket. Each two-man team will play a series of five nine-hole matches.
What to watch:
Sunday – The Boston Red Sox travel to the Bronx to take on their heated rivals, the New York Yankees in an A.L. East showdown. 7:00 p.m., ESPN
