Upcoming events

• July 19 – South Lafourche High School will administer physicals for any athlete wishing to take part in a sport this year. Physicals will be offered at the following times: 6 p.m. (seniors), 6:30 p.m. (juniors), 7 p.m. (sophomores), 7:30 p.m. (freshmen).

• July 24 – A travel squad baseball team in Houma will hold tryouts for the 2011 season. The players on the team must be 11, or must not turn 12 before May 1, 2011. Interested parties are asked to call Chad at (985) 856-0725. Tryouts will occur on the East Houma Airbase baseball fields.

• August 6-8 – Lafourche Deputies Association’s annual LDA Softball Tournament. The tournament will take place at the Lockport Baseball Park on Columbus Street. Those interested in participating are asked to call Sean at (985) 532-4333. Registration is $175 per team or $200 If registration occurs the day of the tourney.

Saturday – Tampa Bay Rays at New York Yankees – Watch two of the best teams in baseball slug it out in this early second half showdown. 3 p.m. FOX

Tonight – The 2010 ESPY’s – Breaking down the best in sports in the past calendar year. 8 p.m. ESPN
