June 25, 2008After a solid season in which she finished eighth in the Southland Conference, junior golfer Theunette Van der Walt was selected first team all-Louisiana by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA).
Louisiana’s sports information directors voted on the award.
Van der Walt finished the 2007-08 season with an average score of 78.22 and was the Lady Colonels’ best finisher in seven of their nine tournaments. She claimed one top 10 with a sixth place finish at the Lady Colonel Collegiate, as well as six top 20 finishes.
Van der Walt’s best round happened during the final round of the Chris Banister Gamecock Classic in Calhoun County, Ala., where she fired one-over par 73.
She came to Nicholls last season after starting her career at the University of New Orleans.
