SportsNet Week 3

Players of the Week:

Bronze: H.L. Bourgeois offensive standouts Aaron Coffman, Tyler Doiron, DeQuincey Dunmiles and Tremaine McKinley – The Braves’ four standouts combined for 290 rushing yards in a 44-14 victory against Ellender. Each also rushed for a touchdown against the Patriots.

Silver: Patterson halfback Kenny Hilliard – With the Lumberjacks’ backs against the wall, Hilliard helped take his team out of a 0-2 rut. The All-American rushed for 254 yards and three touchdowns on 26 carries in a 42-14 win.

Gold: E.D. White quarterback Grant Chiasson – On Homecoming night for E.D. White, the Cardinals fell into a 13-0 halftime hole. But Chiasson was named Homecoming King during the break, and responded with a majestic performance, leading the Cardinals to a 22-19 win against South Lafourche.

The Super 6 power rankings (ranking Casey Gisclair’s six best Tri-parish teams):

1. Terrebonne – Terrebonne keeps on rolling with another win. The Tigers have now outscored their opponents 161-21 this season – all this in advance of a big game Friday against Thibodaux.

2. South Terrebonne – South Terrebonne keeps on keeping on, and are now 3-0 on the season.

3. Vandebilt – Assumption is one of the most improved teams in Class 5A, but don’t tell that to the Terriers, as they made things look easy in a 41-16 win.

4. Patterson – The Jacks got back on the right track Friday with an easy win. With their schedule cooling down, expect them to make some serious waves.

5. E.D. White – After two-straight losses to start the season, the Cardinals rebounded to beat South Lafourche on Homecoming. They return most of last season’s Semifinals team, so they know what it takes to win.

6. H.L. Bourgeois – After losing 63-0 to start the season, the Braves have won two-straight, scoring 84 points in those two games.
