Women face Alcorn State; men, Dillard

Nicholls State’s Dec. 15 doubleheader basketball game featuring the women against Alcorn State and the men against Dillard University has been moved from Stopher Gym to the Harang Auditorium in the Thibodaux Civic Center, the university announced last week.

The women will tip off against Alcorn State at 5 p.m., with the men following at 7 p.m. against Dillard. During halftime at both games, local Thibodaux Biddy Basketball teams will take to the court to play shortened exhibition games.

“We did this a few years ago and it was a real success. Nicholls games should be a community event. Playing at the civic center should reinforce our effort to attract local fans to our athletic events,” said Rob Bernardi, Nicholls athletics director.

“I appreciate the interest and assistance from (Thibodaux mayor) Mayor Caillouet and his staff, especially Trudy Clement, for all their hard work in making the civic center available to our basketball teams,” Bernardi added.

Tickets for the doubleheader can be purchased through the Nicholls Athletics Ticket Office located in Barker Hall during normal business hours, or through Ticketmaster. Basketball season ticket holders will be admitted with their regular season ticket.
