Nicholls State University’s one-two punch of javelin throwers are headed to Greensboro, NC, to compete for a spot in the NCAA Championships.

Senior Aja Scott and junior Jaimee Springer have made the cut and will be eligible to compete in the 2013 NCAA East Preliminary Meet, which will take place from May 23-25 at North Carolina A&T University.

The qualification marks the fourth-straight time Scott qualifies for the Prelims – the longest current streak for any athlete on the Colonels’ team.

Springer’s spot in the meet marks her third-straight appearance in the meet.

The two Nicholls javelin hurlers earned their place in Greensboro after scoring impressive showings at the Southland Conference Championships.

Springer took home the conference title for the Colonels with a 155-foot, 6-inch heave.

Scott finished No. 11 in the conference.

If Nicholls’ one-two punch is able to succeed at the preliminaries, they will move to the NCAA Championships, which are held in Oregon.
