Name:

LiAnn McCarthy

5’11’’

School:

Nicholls State University

Grade:

I’m a sixth-year senior on our women’s basketball team. I’ve been here since 2010.

Position:

I am a guard and a forward.

Strengths:

LiAnn McCarthy is a great leader and a solid 3-point shooter in the Colonels’ spread-out offense. She also is resilient and is a hard worker.

Ambition after Nicholls:

The professional game or chasing down a career dream to be an auditor.

Why a sixth-year senior?

McCarthy has been redshirted twice in her career because she’s endured two-separate Torn ACL’s in her knee. The NCAA granted McCarthy an injury hardship, which has allowed her to play this season.

Points per game:

11.4

Rebounds per game:

4.2

3-pointers made:

17

Credentials:

LiAnn McCarthy has been through an awful lot. A New Orleans native, McCarthy played her first two and a half seasons in Thibodaux without adversity, starring on the Colonels’ upstart team. Midway through her junior season, McCarthy tore her ACL, which set up a two-plus-year rehab process that ended in 2015 when she returned to the floor with her team.
