Thibodaux – 56

Central Lafourche – 7

The Tigers completely dismantled the Trojans, using a bend, but don’t break approach on defense to support an offense that was absolutely lights out on Friday. The Tigers are finally starting to find their stride at the right time in District 7-5A.

Westgate – 27

H.L. Bourgeois – 20

After upsetting Central Lafourche, the Braves have a letdown just seven days later, falling to H.L. Bourgeois at home. That’s a tough loss for the Braves – a game they likely needed to have with Thibodaux, Destrehan and Hahnville all coming up in consecutive weeks. But H.L. Bourgeois has proven throughout the season that they’re capable of playing up to the level of top opponents.

Hahnville – 48

Terrebonne – 0

The Tigers fall for the third-straight week, this time being on the losing end of a game against Hahnville. Terrebonne has a good team. Their district just is brutally tough. They absolutely have to beat Lakeshore on Friday night in a non-district tilt.

Assumption – 44

Ellender – 40

For all the games that Ellender has won this season, this defeat on Friday night may show exactly how far the team has come. The Patriots were down 44-22 in the fourth quarter, but they never quit. After three-straight touchdowns, the Patriots had the ball with a chance to take the lead late before running out of time. What an excellent effort.

South Lafourche – 59

Morgan City – 0

After a tough first half of the season, South Lafourche opened the second half with a bang, dominating Morgan City in every phase to open District 7-4A play. The Tarpons allowed -1 yards of total offense in the game, which is awfully hard to do. Next up is a huge matchup with Vandebilt Catholic. That’s a game that might end up deciding the District 7-4A Championship Race.

Vandebilt – 41

South Terrebonne – 19

The Terriers didn’t play their best, but they still did plenty enough to push past South Terrebonne in the district opener. Much like South Lafourche, Vandebilt has quite a few nagging injuries right now. The Terriers did well to rest a few players in the victory.

E.D. White – 59

Thomas Jefferson – 0

We’ve been trying to warn everyone all season. After four-straight losses to start the season, E.D. White is now playing much better football. The Cardinals have now won two-straight, including a dominant 59-point blowout of Thomas Jefferson – a game which the Cardinals bullied their opponent at the line of scrimmage all game.

CCA – 34

Ridgewood – 0

The Lions are back on track and have won two-straight games after a tough loss against Vandebilt Catholic. With five wins, CCA is guaranteed to not have a losing season. We think the Lions still have plenty wins left in their tank in District 8-1A.

St. Martin’s – 41

Houma Christian – 34

The Warriors fought their tails off on Friday night, but just couldn’t get enough stops to secure a victory to open district play. The Warriors will now take on Ridgewood at home in an effort to stop a streak of five-straight losses.

Week 6 Players of the Week

HONORABLE MENTION: Ellender athlete Davontavean Martin – The Patriots didn’t quite beat Assumption, falling to the Mustangs in the final seconds. But Martin sure was fantastic on Friday night, helping make plays all over the field to keep the Patriots alive on the scoreboard.

BRONZE: Vandebilt quarterback Andrew Robison – It was a very workmanlike performance for Robison on Friday night. The always-explosive quarterback completed 15-of-23 passes for 220 yards in a victory over South Terrebonne – the Terriers’ fifth victory of the season.

SILVER: Thibodaux standout Amik Robertson – The Tigers standout totally blitzed Central Lafourche on Friday, making several explosive plays to power Thibodaux past its in-parish rivals. The Tigers are getting better and better every week and Amik Robertson is the reason why.

GOLD: South Lafourche’s defensive unit – The Tarpons battered Morgan City on Friday night, limiting the Tigers to -1 yard offense for the game. Are you kidding me? To keep an opponent from gaining a single yard for an entire 48-minute game is incredible. That’s a dominant showing.

The High-Five

1. Thibodaux: After beating Central Lafourche by 49 points, we don’t think there is any doubt: The Tigers are the best team in the Houma-Thibodaux area. The battle now is whether or not the Tigers can triumph over Hahnville, Destrehan and East St. John – all teams loaded with talent and college-bound players.

2. Vandebilt: The Terriers didn’t play their best this past week against South Terrebonne, but they were plenty good enough to get the win, which is all that matters. Vandebilt will have a huge game with South Lafourche on Friday – one which may decide the outcome of the District 7-4A chase.

3. Central Lafourche: The Trojans are in a danger zone right now, folks. They’ve lost two-straight games and are about to face all three River Parish schools. That’s not good. The Trojans have to get themselves right in a hurry or this losing streak may last for quite a while.

4. South Lafourche: The Tarpons finally played a school their own size on Friday night – and it showed. The Tarpons crushed Morgan City, scoring in all three phases to roll to a dominant 59-0 victory. Next up is a huge showdown with Vandebilt.

5. CCA: The Lions survived Caleb Seitz’s injury and stayed afloat. Now, with the quarterback scheduled to be back, CCA can get back to its perch near the top of the pecking order in Division IV.

By The Numbers for Week 6 of the Prep Football Season

-1: South Lafourche limited Morgan City’s offense to -1 yard of total offense in Friday’s game, routinely pushing back the Tigers and setting up long yardage situations. The Tarpons got their second win of the season in the ballgame.

371: Central Lafourche had no answer for Thibodaux’s rushing offense on Friday night. The Tigers gained 371 yards on the ground, gutting the Trojans defense to the tune of a 56-7 victory. The Tigers are now 5-1 on the season after an opening-night loss.

18: Ellender was down 44-22 on Friday night in the fourth quarter. But instead of folding, the Patriots battled back, scoring 18-straight points down the stretch to make the game close. The Patriots didn’t win, but they showed tons of guts to play the full, 48-minute game.

2: After losing four-straight games to start the season, E.D. White is now in the winner’s circle again. The Cardinals have won two-straight games, including a blowout of Thomas Jefferson on Friday, which saw the Cardinals score 39 points in the third quarter. E.D. White will lock horns with Patterson on Friday night.
