Tri-parish fighting fans are in for a treat.

Famous MMA fighters and professional wrestlers are heading to the area throughout the remainder of the summer to entertain local fans.

Beginning in the second weekend in July, the rest of the summer will be jam-packed with kicks, punches, tap-outs and pinfalls with five different fighting events on different days throughout several weekends.

The fights range through different organizations, including Elite Championship Wrestling to TNA and In Ya Face Fight Productions.

The action starts on July 12 at the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center with The Caged Warrior Championship.

The multi-fight card MMA card will feature Kurt Holobaugh and Corey Hill – two competitors who fought in the UFC.

Other fighters who will appear on the card include Brennan Sevin, Alex Black and Kip Butcher.

The MMA show will be put on by local promoters In Ya Face Fight Productions.

Tickets are available at Extreme MMA in Houma.

Anyone wanting more information may call Justin Verdin at (985) 856-3442.

While MMA will take center stage at the civic center, it is wrestling that fills local gyms and arenas the remainder of the summer afterward.

On July 13-14, Elite Championship Wrestling will hold its second-ever two-show weekend.

The first show will take place on July 13 at the Grand Caillou Gym in Dulac. At that show, John Saxxon will take on Minotaur and Scott Phoenix will face the massive Clarice.

If both Saxxon and Phoenix win their matches, then the main event for the July 14 show at the East Park Recreation Center in Houma will feature Phoenix and Saxxon vs. Clarice and Minotaur in a Down South Brawl.

Also expected to compete at the shows are Mustang Mike and Bu Ku Dao.

For Elite Championship Wrestling, it all leads up to August 25.

On that night, the local wrestling organization will hold its Elite Supershow event at the East Park Recreation Center.

What will make the event super is the stacked card that will include former WWE titleholder Matt Hardy.

The competitor to face Hardy will be determined at the show on July 14.

Tickets to Elite Championship Wrestling shows can be had by calling (985)-262-9789 or visiting http://elitechampionshipwrestling.com/.

While Elite Championship Wrestling loads up to bring Matt Hardy into the area, TNA will carry its star-studded roster into Thibodaux on Aug. 3.

The nationally televised wrestling federation is coming to the Harang Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. on that day for its Wrestling Live! Event.

TNA stands for Total Nonstop Action, and the organization is broadcast to the country each week on Spike.

Legendary wrestlers Hulk Hogan, Jeff Hardy, Bully Ray, Sting, and Mickie James are among the top stars on the TNA roster.

Tickets for the event are still readily available through Ticketmaster.

The cost varies from $20.95 to $72.40 depending on proximity to the ring.

Promotions also are in place for families hoping to attend the event.
