Tracking Glory with Hal Martin

This past weekend was an off-weekend for the NASCAR Nationwide Series, so I have no racing to report about this week. I spent the week working on sponsorship opportunities, putting marketing proposals together, and making some phone calls. We are constantly working on future funding and racing opportunities. In the racing business, there really is no time off. Even though the Nationwide Series was not racing this weekend, both the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series were racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway. This is where I will be racing this coming weekend, so I was sure to watch both races to get an idea on racing lines, strategy, and ideal passing locations on the track. The races were very exciting and I learned a lot by watching, which I will take into my race next weekend.

The upcoming race at Charlotte Motor Speedway is what all the teams in the NASCAR world consider the hometown race because almost all teams are based in the Charlotte, NC area. I will be very busy this week attending fan and sponsor events. First up is an employee interactive event for one of our sponsors, Ingersoll Rand, headquartered in Davidson, NC. We will have the race hauler and show car at the event and I will be signing autographs and spending time with employees of Ingersoll Rand.

Next up will be an appearance at Speed Street in downtown Charlotte. Here, I will be signing autographs for fans who are in town for the race.

Then we will progress into the race weekend, where things really get busy. We have 2 days of practice, followed by a day away from the track on Friday in which I will be making an appearance at a local children’s hospital to talk with some kids who, unfortunately, won’t be able to attend the race. I will work to spread some smiles around and keep them excited about NASCAR racing! Then the entire week culminates into Saturday afternoon’s race. I am really looking forward to racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway, another first in my book!
