Alfred G. O’Dowd Sr., a native of New Orleans and a resident of Houma, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018, at the age of 82.

Alfred will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, June Carole Sevin O’Dowd; son, Timothy and wife Brenda O’Dowd; daughter, June Carol and husband Curtis Odum; 8 granddaughters, Christy Humberg (Merrill), Katie O’Dowd (Stephen), Shelly O’Dowd, Hannah Hawkes (Aaron), Tara Wilde (Raymond), Gretchen Wright (Colton), Candice Odum, and Kayla Burkett (Mathew); 9 great grandchildren, Xavier, Xander, and Zachary Humberg, Samantha and Liam Coffey, Raymond and Rhett Wilde, River Wright and Awen Burkett and numerous nieces and nephews.

He served 24 years in the Army National Guard as a member of the 141st. Washington Artillery. Although his favorite activities were always time spent with his family, he also enjoyed fishing and had an amazing sense of humor. Alfred was a genuine, caring individual who touched the lives of all who knew him. He was a member of the Louisiana National Guard Enlisted Association (LANGEA) and The Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States (EANGUS).
