Nicholls State University’s baseball catcher will get his shot at pro ball.

A few days after the completion of the MLB Draft, the Houston Astros announced that they had signed former Colonel Christian Correa to an undrafted free agent contract.

Correa is the fourth Colonel to go pro out of the past year’s senior class. He earned his spot after serving as one of the top defensive catchers in the Southland in 2015. He threw out 18 base runners attempting to steal and had a .985 fielding percentage.

“It’s amazing,” Correa said. “It’s everything I worked for. I just want to thank everyone who has been there through everything in my baseball career.”
