Barbara Antill Guidry, 92, born in Preston, Cuba, Oriente Province, and a resident of Gibson, La., and Houma, La., died on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016.

Mrs. Guidry was an avid swimmer in her youth in Cuba. She was a champion bowler, a member of the Women’s Bowling Congress and won numerous awards and championships including a Louisiana State championship. She worked in the food service industry and was the manager and bookkeeper for over 25 years at Rosalie and Ray’s Steakhouse. She enjoyed fishing, boating, swimming, traveling, playing bridge, and reading. She was a longtime member of Maria Immacolata Catholic Church.


She is survived by her children, Paula Collins, Vanessa (Keith) Whipple, Karen Guidry, Dorothy Grace and Arthur (Dee) Gouner Jr.; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, with one on the way; sisters, Lucille Craigue and Margaret Dupre; brothers, Monroe, Barry and Nelson Antill; sister-in-law, Wanda Antill; and her beloved cat, Tiger.

Memorial donations may be made to the Terrebonne Parish Animal Shelter at 131 Plant Road, Houma, La., 70363, or to MacDonell Children’s Services, 8326 Main St., Houma, La., 70363.

Burial is at St. Anthony Catholic Church Cemetery.
