Suspect accused of stealing from local business

A 36-year-old woman is in custody of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office after she allegedly stole more than $20,000 from Brooke’s Sno-World.

Authorities were called to the local business recently on a suspicion of theft.


While investigating, authorities learned that Courtney Childress Hernandez, 36, had been working as the office manager of the local business and that in her position, she allegedly forged checks and used company credit cards to pay her own personal bills from Jan. 2017 June 2017, running up more than $20,000 in alleged expenses.

On Tuesday, authorities contacted Hernandez and she agreed to surrender.

She is held on a $75,000 bond and is charged with theft of greater than $20,000.


Houma man charged with carnal knowledge of a juvenile

A 31-year-old man is accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl.

On Aug. 6, the Houma Police Department responded to the complaint and started an investigation.


During that time, it was discovered that an alleged incident had occurred within the 200 block of Jean Ellen. Au thorities also learned that the victim and suspect had met several times during a fivemonth period.

The suspect was identified as Zachary Duplantis, 31, of Jean Ellen.

During investigation, HPD learned that Duplantis took the victim to a local daiquiri shop, but once employees questioned her age, they were asked to leave.


As investigation continued, HPD interviewed the victim and other witnesses and those interviews allowed authorities to get an arrest warrant for Duplantis for carnal knowledge of a juvenile and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

Authorities learned yesterday that Duplantis was at a local business.

When this was discovered, they responded to the business and arrested him without incident on the above-listed charges.


Suspect accused of ripping coin machine off car wash

A reward is being offered for information which leads to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for the theft of a change machine at a Bayou Blue car wash.

Just after 4 a.m. on Aug. 7, Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a car wash on La. Highway 316 in Bayou Blue after getting a call that a large change machine had been taken from the business.


Detectives on the scene said they found the entire box had been removed from a brick wall at the business. Authorities believe a large hammer was used due to marks they found on the wall

Authorities said several hundreds of dollars were in the machine at the time of the robbery and the machine, itself, is worth about $3,000.

Authorities are asking for public assistance to solve this case.
