Bayou Blue man charged with attempted murder

A Bayou Blue man is charged with attempted murder after an incident this past weekend.

At around 6 a.m. on Sunday, deputies responded to a complaint on Lacroix Drive in Bayou Blue. Upon arrival, authorities said they found a man lying in the street with a gunshot wound in his abdomen.

When deputies arrived, Jared Walker, 37, of Bayou Blue, emerged from a nearby residence and told deputies that he shot the victim.

Authorities immediately took Walker into custody and the victim was airlifted to University Medical Center in New Orleans where he remains in stable condition.

Authorities immediately took Walker into custody and the victim was airlifted to University Medical Center in New Orleans where he remains in stable condition.

Walker was identified and authorities found he had an outstanding warrant for a parole violation, so he was taken into custody for that charge.

Authorities investigated the shooting and learned Walker and the victim were involved in a physical altercation on the previous day and on Sunday morning, they were having a verbal argument at Walker’s residence.

At one point, Walker allegedly retrieved a shotgun and fired a single round, striking the victim.

Authorities obtained a warrant for Walker’s arrest on Wednesday and he was booked for attempted second-degree murder and illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

He is held on a $300,000 bond, but he’s not eligible to post bond because of a hold for his parole violation.

Authorities said the investigation is continuing and more charges may be filed.

Lafourche authorities looking for suspect who had counterfeit dollar bill

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre said a reward is being offered for any person who can provide information which will lead to the arrest of a man who allegedly attempted to use a counterfeit bill at a truck stop in Larose.

Webre said that at around 10:15 a.m. on Aug. 18, deputies were called to a truck stop located on La. Highway 308 in the south Lafourche town in reference to a male having allegedly attempted to use a counterfeit bill.

According to surveillance footage taken from the business, the suspect is a white male with dark hair. He is pictured on the right edge of this story.

After a cashier checked the bill and deemed it fake, the suspect allegedly left the scene in a black sedan (pictured above).

Anyone who can identify the suspect or with information on this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers Bayou Region at 1-800-743-7433.

Tipsters can earn up to a $1,000 reward if information leads to an arrest.
