Bert Joseph Redmond, 90, a native of Houma, La., and resident of Lafayette, La., died at 3:58 p.m. Sunday, April 5, 2015.

Prior to ill health, Mr. Redmond was a parishioner of St. Ann Catholic Church in Bourg. He retired from Texaco with more than 35 years as a purchasing agent. He was also a notary public for Texaco Credit Union, an income tax consultant; and served on the board of advisors for First Federal Savings and Loan Association. Mr. Redmond was a special deputy with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office and was a past commander of the American Legion in Montegut and Ward 6 justice of the peace for many years. He was a WWII veteran, having served from 1943-45 in Milan, Italy, in the 364th Infantry Regiment, 91st Infantry Pine Tree Division. He was awarded the Bronze Star.


Mr. Redmond is survived by his wife of 73 years, Ann Mae Tregre Redmond; daughter: Marlene (Lee) King; son, Steven (Dianne) Redmond; sister, Nell Authement; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Burial is at St. Ann Catholic Church Cemetery.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Regional Military Museum in Houma.
