Amateur and professional artists take note: The Best of the Bayou Festival is seeking poster designs for the September event.

The contest is open to artists age 16 or older, born or living in Terrebonne and Lafourche or the surrounding bayou parishes.

Best of the Bayou, now in its fifth year, is seeking a theme that demonstrates or embodies the festival’s spirit. The winning poster must be an original artistic interpretation of the bayou’s best aspects – the music or food, natural habitat or colorful history and culture of the Bayou Region. Abstract artwork is allowed. The logo is not required; the festival’s name or dates should not be included in the design. Copyrighted characters, clip art or any other copyrighted images will not be accepted.

Entries must be original works not previously displayed or sold to the public. Various mediums and types of art are welcome.

Entries must be a painting on a 16-inch wide by 20-inch tall canvas.

The deadline to enter is 4 p.m. Friday, June 24.

A panel of artists, art and design professionals and event planners will select the winner, who will receive $250. Best of the Bayou will auction the winning entry, and may display all others in a special gallery at the festival Sept. 24-25.
