Betty Gagneaux, 78, a native of Thibodaux and resident of Schriever, passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2019.

She is survived by her son, Michael Gagneaux (Mary); daughters, Susan Hymel (Rusty), and Justine Stevens (Trey); four grandchildren, Amber Bourgeois (Nick), Monique Naquin (Reed), Rae Lynn Vilcan, and Meghan Stevens; five great-grandchildren, Kaden and Evan Bourgeois, Carsen and Corynn Naquin, and Elijah Stevens; and godchildren, Frankie LeBouef, Abby Tabor, and Edith Kidder.

She was a devoted Catholic who believed in charity. Her church was her community. She had compassion for others and loved children. She recognized the good in people. Her motto was “to do a service for others with no expectations of return favor.” She loved cats. Throughout this ordeal, she never complained. She knew in her heart that Jesus was going to comfort her.

Mrs. Betty retired from Terrebonne Parish School Board in which she did sign language for the hearing impaired, para-professional elementary, and after retiring she was in the foster grand parenting program through Catholic Charities in the Houma-Thibodaux Diocese.
