Dr. Bonnie Jean Bourg, 88, the last surviving member of the original faculty of Nicholls State University, died peacefully at her Thibodaux home at 1 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2015.


Dr. Bourg was a native of Houma. She graduated from H. Sophie Newcomb Memorial College of Tulane University and Louisiana State University. She earned her doctoral degree in education from LSU in 1979. She was a parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas where she was a lector and Eucharistic minister. She was a past member of the St. Thomas Aquinas parish council and led the New Life program for many years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Dr. Bonnie Jean Bourg’s name to the Nicholls Foundation for the Bonnie Bourg Lecture Series or St. Thomas Aquinas on the Nicholls Campus.

Burial is at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery in Houma.
