Two Raceland brothers are charged with two-counts each of first-degree murder after they allegedly killed two man over the weekend.


Kerry Alexander. 34 and Jerrell Alexander. 28. hath of Raceland are in custody and ore held on $1.25 million bonds each after the weekend incident, which claimed two lives in Raceland.

Just prior to 3 p.m. an Saturday, Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies and detectives were called to a home on the 100 block of Market Street in Raceland in reference to a shooting.

Once on the scene, authorities found Marcel Turner in the garage of the residence with what appeared to be a gunshot wound.


Turner is a 26-year-old from Thibodaux. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Investigators learned that a second victim was shot Jeremiah Ballard, 28, of Raceland. He was taken to Ochaner St. Anne Hospital in Raceland where he

later succumbed to his injuries. A third man. in his 206, was found during the incident but was unharmed.

LPSO launched an investigation of the incident and learned that two suspects — the Alexander brothers — entered the garage of the home wearing all black clothing and camouflage masks. They were brandishing firearms and demanded money from the victims.


LPSO says that in a matter of seconds, one of the brothers started firing at the men, striking Turner and Ballard, while the third victim escaped.

Authorities quickly identified the Alexander brothers as suspects in the case. LPSO said they got information that they were both in the Boutte area.

Working with deputies from the St Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, authorities located the brothers at a restaurant and detained them. They were wearing all black clothing at the time of their arrest. Authorities also said they located a bag outside of the restaurant containing two handguns and camouflage masks and witnesses on the scene saw the Alexanders with the bag prior to entering the restaurant LPSO believes the item A in the bag were the murder weapons and the items the brothers ware at the crime scene.


Kerry and Jerrell Alexander were booked in the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux. They are each charged with two-counts of first-degree murder and one-count of attempted first-degree murder. Bonds are set at $1.25 million for each suspect.

LPSO says both men have extensive criminal histories.

Kerry Alexander’s prior arrests include numerous charges for illegal weapons and drugs, as well as false representation, flight from an officer and theft Jerrell Alexander’s prior arrests include attempted murder, armed robberies, simple robbery, assaults, batteries and other charges.


LPSO said the investigation is ongoing.
