Charles N Becnel Jr. of Olla, La., aged 73, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans after a brief illness. He was born Jan. 28, 1945, in Vacherie, to the union of Charles N Becnel and Inez Clement Becnel. He was the third of four children. His sisters are Linda Becnel Thibodaux, of Thibodaux; Betty Becnel Allemand, of Texas; and his brother, Louis “Max” Becnel of Vacherie. He was raised along with his special sister aunt, Florence Clement Matherne.

Charlie was a 1968 graduate of Nicholls State University. He married the love of his life Charlene Naquin On July 25, 1970. They were residents of Vacherie for 23 years and Thibodaux, for 18 years. They had three children, Cindy Becnel Lemons (Shannon), Celeste Becnel Verret (Brandon) and Christopher Becnel (Nichole).

The joy of his life was his five grandchildren, Bryce Lemons, Ellery Lemons, Duncan Verret, Carter Becnel and Cohl Becnel.

Charlie and Charlene loved spending their time sharing their faith with others about God’s promise of Kingdom blessings soon to come. They spent 70 hours a month teaching others the Bible. Within his last days, Charlie wanted all who visited him and his nursing staff to know he had a sure hope for a resurrection here on Earth soon to come under Christ’s rule
